I have a new pet peeve. I like to go on long walks at Christmastime to look at holiday light displays in my neighborhood. Most of the houses are set close to the street, with small yards. Many of the houses are also equipped with bright lights that come on when they detect motion.
So, I don't know how many times I was walking along the sidewalk, minding my own business, absentmindedly admiring the pretty blue and white lights, when - suddenly - a glaring white light blinds me from the near corner of that house's garage. Ouch!
I must say it totally ruins the moment. I'm tempted to take a pack of sticky notes with me next time so I can leave little notes on the offending lights. Why would people go to all that work just to ruin whatever goodwill they created by blinding innocent pedestrians?
