I've been tweeting. Twittering? It's been rather fun. So far, I am following 12 people and being followed by 6, including a non-profit from Boston and a local radio station here on the West Coast. When I started following the radio station, I was the 17th follower. Just over the weekend, they've accumulated 400 more.
Will Twitter reach a critical mass of users, like Facebook has? It's hard to say. The points in its favor are its simplicity and its immediacy. It offers a voyeuristic look into the daily lives of people I would otherwise struggle to imagine. It's as close to getting into the head of another person, as close to telepathy, as we have right now.
What music am I listening to while I explore new worlds of pseudo-connectedness? The people who were around in my teens! We are planning to see Bruce Springsteen in concert April 1 and Leonard Cohen in concert on April 13th. Yeah! Makes me feel like a Jonas Bros. fan. (Scream! Drool! Swoon!). OK. So not really, but I"m especially looking forward the Leonard Cohen concert. I've loved his poetic soul ever since I encountered it all those years ago.
